About the 2009 Reunion Show
When the Alley Cat first opened its doors people were still walking on the Moon,  John and Yoko were a hot news topic and Richard Nixon was still secretly taping himself in the White House.  For the next 21 years the Alley Cat was a fixture on the Champaign entertainment scene, weathering the disco craze and mullets -- and when necessary -- participating whole-heartedly in lunacy like the urban cowboy phenomenon, when every band in town suddenly suddenly donned cowboy hats and added Gimme Three Steps to the set list.

The Alley Cat was home to an eclectic mix of folk from both the town and the university.  A typical Alley Cat crowd would consist of everything from professors and grad students to office staffers and Harley Riders. "I've run into old customers in places ranging from Cancun to Seattle," says long-time owner, and current Chicago comedian Paul Frisbie.  "A lot of people walked through those doors over the years."

The Alley Cat is long gone, but there's still a nightclub at the proper location.  So on Saturday, Oct, 17, 2009, the Fat City Bar and Grille kindly agreed to host an Alley Cat Reunion party.  It started with a comedy show headlining Paul Frisbie and featuring fellow comedians who got their start at the Alley Cat.  Mark Roberts made a special appearance, and the comedy show was followed by live music with Champaign's iconic Keith Harden, who played the Cat with so many different bands over the years.  It was a terrific show and a great party.
